Tunping Wang (王敦平) was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1984. He received his bachelor's degree in fine art from College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan in 2008, and master's degree in fine art from New York Academy of Art in New York City in 2011.
Portraiture has been the primary focus of Tunping's artwork. His very first solo exhibition, Undefined, at Hionas Gallery showed a series of larger-than-life portrait works. One of the pieces, Undefined #2, was also selected to be among the finalists for the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition in 2013. It was then displayed at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.. Another drawing, Triza, received the Certificate of Excellence in the 2017 International Portrait Competition held by the Portrait Society of America.
